Great story. I'm trying to get as much info as possible since I've just been diagnosed with IgG Nephropathy. I'm a married mother of 3 boys and I'm 32 years old. I wish every Doctor I've met could explain things as perfect as you did to your patient. Keep up the good work. Oh and by the way, if you have an easy way of explaining my condition please let me know. Aside from saying I have a rare form of Kidney Disease I can't come up with anything easy for others to understand. =) Thanks!

Thanks, Trace. You probably don't have to worry as long as you're feeling okay. She was already sick when she came in and had the symptoms to prove it.

BTW, you've got a hilarious blog. I'll be sure to add you to my roll, once I have this up and running like an actual, functional blog.

This was a great story! I know it's reassuring to know that what you are doing really is impacting others lives. It's these types of days you have to live for.

I honestly was never worried about her. The nurses asked me the other day what ended up happening to her. When I told them, they felt so devastated that someone so young needed a kidney transplant. I look it at like someone so young didn't die from multi organ failure. I'm not sure how high she'll be on the UNOS list. I imagine she'd be rather high as she has no other co-morbidities and had little to no vices. But her best bet is a living donor transplant from a relative or friend.

I'm sure this story made your day. It made mine. I'm glad that you were able to connect with this patient in such a powerful way. A 30 year old with Heart and Kidney failure and you're not worried? All we do is read about this stuff in books, so right now everything has me petrified. Question: How high up does a person of her stature end up on the donor list?
